After a successful career in marketing & communications, I decided to pursue my passion for cooking and traded my business suits and heels for a chef’s coat and clogs.
I’ve actually been cooking since I could stand on a stool at the stove and honed my skills riding the apron strings of my mom – a skilled cook in her own right.
Growing up, my mom always made sure my siblings and I understood how to plan and prepare meals and how to keep a well-stocked pantry full of the essential ingredients needed to produce flavorful and healthy meals. She also taught us how to set a formal and an informal table, how to choose ingredients that complimented each other and how to plan a menu for any occasion.
Throughout my adult life, I have found that the process of cooking relaxes and energizes me. I love hosting parties so I can research and find something new to cook and I get excited when I’m asked to bring an appetizer or side dish to a friend’s party! In fact, my extensive library of cookbooks has grown too big to fit in my kitchen and now takes up a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf in my living room.
My friends say they always look forward to sampling my tasty treats and for years have encouraged me to cook for a living. So, I finally decided to heed their advice and share my cooking talents through Ann’s Custom Cuisine.
I am a member of the American Personal Chef’s Association and, whenever possible, I prefer to use local, organic produce and sustainably raised meats, poultry and seafood. I also like to feature seasonal ingredients in my cooking.
